Civ V is straight baller, definitely look into the DLCs and see which Civs fit your playstyle, and then buy them for sure, adds so much more to the game. I'm openly assuming Spec Ops is shit, trailer did nothing for me and the story seems boring at best. Also why in the sweet fuck did you buy Duke Nukem Forever? Other than that it seems like you got a great set of games there, and Fallout 3 GOTY is ownzone, I just happen to like Vegas more. How's Darkness 2, do you need to play the first to get into the story? And yea I got suckered into Sim City 4 for nostalgia too

Hey self lets ram a whole bunch of sentences together, call it a paragraph, and feel the cold wind as my English professors roll in their [s]term papers[/s] graves

For a reply I too will just jumble a bunch of sentences together.

Will look into DLCs for sure. Spec Ops from what little I've been able to play, isn't terrible just nothing great. I guess the only thing that stands out is how close it hits home, since it's primarily about the Iraq War, or at least takes place in Iraq. Duke Nukem was part of the 2k bundle so I didn't have much of a choice, played for about an hour then went back to Civ 5. When it comes to Fallout3, personally I liked the original more then Vegas, probably because the original had more depth, at least IMO(rebuying since I sold my Xbox). Darkness 2 storyline wise hasn't been too confusing without playing the first, similar to Dead Space 2 they have a intro movie that recaps the first.

Edit: Forgot to mention about Darkness 2, one of the downfalls is the amount of gore. Gore is good and all but they take it to the extreme.

Making this quick since late for work.

Its pretty much a semi-horror FPS with some RPG elements(skills to upgrade). So far there really isn't any minions, there's 1 that follows you around and helps you but you have no control over.

So, in addition to the STALKER package, today the Thief Package is $6.67. The second one is the best of them, but the stealthing components of the original are better, I think. I wouldn't bother if you're a graphics whore, but if you like good gameplay and sneaky mechanics, check them out.

Also, since horror was mentioned, if you haven't yet bought Amnesia: The Dark Descent, do so now. It's worth the full $20 but looks like it'll be $10 for the duration of the sale (unless it goes on a flash or daily sale again). Made by a small independent team of 10 Swedes lead by two passionate devs, it's probably the best-executed horror game of all time — certainly on the PC, anyway. Turn the lights out, put some headphones on...

Got Fallout: New Vegas earlier. I completed Fallout 3 and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to spending another 100+ hours on this one too!

Gotten myself Mirror's Edge and currently getting Fallout 3 GOTY and Fallout NV Ultimate pack gifted to circumvent "~German low violence version".
Fucktards, it'S about time Steam impliments an age verification method to allow +18 duders to get uncut shit.

I know I'd rather have my vanilla version be uncensored than install a mod. Plus, If you buy it from an American, you don't have to pay the Rest-of-the-world Software Import Tax

Maybe, maybe not, maybe for non-steam version only. Eventually I don't care about a mod to set my game right, when via this method I simply own it uncut wherever and howeveryoften I am going to reinstall it. That's worth 2 minutes of paypal-hassle.

It still boggles my mind that that's a thing. USA is considering an online sales tax because Texas is fucking dumb and refuses to have an income tax. vOv

It's not actually a tax, but software is more expensive elsewhere. Localisation is the problem, usually, as EU versions of software need to be in French, German, Spanish and I think Italian as well as English, so we can't just use US versions of the software. But games that only come in English have no reason to be disproportionately more expensive - they just are. Fallout 3 is £3.49 on sale, how much is it in the US? $3.99 or something like that iirc

I grabbed a bunch of games on the sale already. One game I got today was Civ5 - I'd been wanting it and waiting for it to go on sale. It's really a good game and I'm enjoying it. My lifetime steam games count is up to a whopping 40. I'm not much of a PC gamer sadly.

I find Civ5 to be rather unplayable after entering the 2000's on a larger map.

Good game nonetheless. Let me tell you about carthagian nukes fucking up gandhis pussy-ass empire...

Well, the Civ series in general suffers from end-game content being... shit. I love Civ 5, but I usually want to quit as soon as I've finished up the Military tree and my phalanx of Mech Infantry and missile artillery with aircraft carrier support are halfway done scourging the map.

Bought Fallout3 less then a week ago for $12 then it was on sale for $5 yesterday ....

Edit: About Civ5. The thing so far that's been pissing me off, is the fact that you get penalized for getting to big. Since you automatically gain unhappiness for each city and every time your city increases in size. While the unhappiness from the amount of cities can be negated with certain policies. The only way I've been able to combat the unhappiness from size is to cap 2 cities at 8 population for every 1 city I let grow to max. While I guess that was done for realism sake its still annoying that you get penalized for creating mega civilizations.

Different Civ games used happiness in different ways; in Civ2, Fundamentalism was the 'win' button since it effectively removed happiness as a factor and you could run your country like the Borg Collective. I could never figure out how to effectively play as Democracy or Communism, as far as I was concerned you were just shooting yourself in the foot for 'lol realism'.

Depending on who you start as, Happiness is either not a problem or the biggest one. Producing Settlers is a problem in itself, since your cities can't grow while you're building them. What I usually do is whore all the money making options early, buy Settlers and happiness buildings in the cities they set up to reduce the impact, then backpedal and turn my 'base' of five or six cities into a technocratic fortress until I get artillery and then it's basically game over.

I found vanilla Civ 5 to be quite boring so I've been running this_mod instead for about 6 months now. It is a total conversion to WWII with several scenarios, 1939 Europe on a smaller map, or 1942 world map as any of the big countries. The mod is fairly slow paced (the 1942 scenario can take up to a week to play out) and requires a fairly good PC to run but gives a lot more depth than normal Civ. Playing as the US is fairly easy, the only hiccups are trying to transport troops across the Atlantic and Pacific without losing them all to subs. Italy and Japan on the other hand can be quite a bit more challenging to play as in the late game due to their shit economies.

    Edit-

RAGE is on sale for $10 for the next 2 hours. Basically the one game I've been really hoping would on sale, now I just need to uninstall a bunch of games to free up space.

Jade Empire is only a few bucks on steam right now, and while it's a bit old now it was one of the best of its genre.
good entertainment for a weekend both for adults and kids (looking at the storyline i'd say 12+, but that's just me), and you definitely need a controller even on pc. i had a great time perfecting my tiger claw style.

So in total I bought SimCity4, Torchlight II, Wargame: European Escalation, Ys The Oath in Felghana (I dunno seemed like an olschool RPG and it was cheap), F:NV extra copy (easy gift), and Penny Arcade's on the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3.

All in all, not a bad couple of buys, and now I feel inspired to go back and play more Fallout New Vegas

The Paradox Summer Sale has been going on for some time. Their storefront is really easy to use and I believe all their titles are DRM-free (you get an unencumbered executable file from them).

/edit: Indie Gala 7 (a package deal) is on. Death to Spies is worth the current average of $6.94 on its own if you don't mind older titles. King's Bounty AP is good and Space Rangers is insane.

Fallout's 1, 2, and Tactics are all bundled today on Steam for like $7. Figured I'd pick them up as an interesting throwback.

Also Lonesome Road in F:NV is awesome
