Looking for some feedback
**please note, I am not advertising anything here, I am simply looking for feedback**
Hey guys,
I have been a gamer of online games now for a number of years, mainly playing MMORPG games and a little bit of online first person shooters. I am also working for a company who have recently finished developing a high quality conferencing program. We are looking to implement the software into application form, designed mainly for online gamers, creating a high quality, easy to use and customisable conferencing experience. Ideally, i've come here to ask for some feedback from you guys, and hear what sort of features you would like to see within this product. With the excellence of the software, the possibilities are endless.
At the moment, we have built a basic browser based version of the program, with just a few features. This browser version has been designed for business to business communication. You can try out the service here: http://www.yoconferencecall.co.uk/
The main differences that we will be implementing into the application version will be that it wont be browser based, channels will be easily created (like in teamspeak and ventrilo etc) and the pricing will be a monthly package, based on how many people will be able to connect to the server. (again in the same way as teamspeak and ventrilo) Members will also connect to the server via the computer (windows, linux and mac) rather than phone line.
In our current planning stage, here are the main features that we are currently looking to implement into the application:
- a simple, sleek and easy to use interface, making it easy to manage all of the members with a built in administration control panel for any administrators.
- a large number of functions like mute, block, private chat, pop up notifications, voice notifications (when player 'john smith' for example logs in, the voice will say 'john smith has come online')
- screen sharing with selected/all online members, audio playback to selected/all online members and recording of screen sharing and/or sound
- high quality visual and audio streaming (broadband required for highest quality of streaming)
- fully customise the interface of your guild/clan/corporation server by changing the colours and images. Whenever someone then logs into the server, they will see the customised interface.
- create your own profile, update your avatar picture, and update your status
- add other users to your friends list to see their status updates, their online status, and what server/channel they are in
- add servers to your watch list to recieve recent news updates as and when they come
- an overlay feature, which allows you to view your server chatroom, friends list and server watch list in-game. It will also allow you to manage your private chat, volume control, the playback/recording feature and the screen sharing feature all whilst you are in-game.
As we are still in the early planning stages of creating this application for gamers, we would be very keen to hear about what features you guys would like us to include in the application, and any other feedback that you might have. As I said before, with this software the possiblities are endless.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

This site is mostly a community, which means that when it looks like you are advertising something, even if you aren't, and that is your first post you'll probably get banned. On the slight chance that you aren't and you are really member of a small company who is looking for feedback I'm approving your thread for now. If you don't reply to this post though you'll be banned immediately.
Also, don't sign your posts.

Hi there,
Thankyou for your response. I can confirm that I am indeed part of a small company and this is most certainly a legitimate project. I can appreciate the appearance of this post being misleading. My problem is that i've never really been much of a forum person, in that I've usually found my contacts and answers through research. As this is a project designed solely to increase the quality of the communication experience for online gamers, I find myself in need of mixed feedback. I have turned to forum communities for this reason.
I will appreciate it if you can keep this post active, as any feedback may change how well this application does in improving online communications for gamers when it is released.

Why, thank you!

So it will be another kind of Skype?
-
Well from what it looks like at the moment it is another kind of skype, what they are planning to do from what I understand is to do a skype/mumble(ts, vent) type of program.

In a nutshell, you're pretty much spot on. Ultimately what we are intending to do is create a new application which brings the current communicational software for gamers up to date. We plan to do this by implementing the features above, but also create an interface which is familiar and very easy to use.
We are also attempting to add the ability to keep up to date on the latest news of your server/guild/corporation/clan etc, along with your friend's statuses (the same way as the oldschool facebook did).
Above all, what we are aiming to do, is incorporate this in a way so that it can be done in-game using the 'overlay' feature. This means, no alt+tabbings, which also means that it will be much more user friendly than the current applications.
What we're keen to know is how you guys feel about the features we're looking to implement, and if there are any other features that you would like us to look at implementing.
