We could replace the reason text box with a drop down menu list of possible reasons. You could then select the applicable reason, saving the time and effort of typing it in. I think we could cover about 90% or more of them with the following 5:

at least a battlereport wiki where people can access summed up information they'd usually have to spend hours on to to piece it together themselves using various third-party sites. could be foreplay exclusive (at least for discussion and while editing it), but not necessarily. just make sure that you-know-who does not hijack it for his own purposes :P.Here are some of our ideas so far:
Wiki - It probably won't be as useful as the Goonfleet wiki for in-game stuff, but we imagine it might be a good way to archive the happenings of EVE. One of Foreplay's useful services is that it has a wealth of content from the past, and I know a lot of people have complimented positively on that. I'm willing to risk cutting some of our income by having a wiki that gives summaries of past (and current) drama.

Another idea (dunno if anyone mentioned it) is make people have to register with their in game names, no more of this forum identity BS where I have to ask on comms who is this fagola neg repping me and why do they care? Another upside of this transparency is, you can even out the rep bandwagoning by making multiple votes one way or the other count less the more there are from the same corp/alliance (over a period of time).
Also, get rid of "power". I see the idea behind it, but it's tough to get started posting on here when your first faultering posts get negrepped by some all powerful forum being like Agathor (for example) and you get to claw your way back from -3 immediately. (Agathor hasn't negrepped me, but he did plus rep me and single-handedly put me over 1 from negative, just an example of someone with crazy power)

We play EvE. People would just circumvent this. Everyone who wanted to could just post with an NPC/Spy alt. Its so easy to circumvent for such a small benefit that I doubt its worth even thinking about.

Erm... are you sure? I can. In fact I think it's one of the cooler foreplay features. I don't really like the idea of foreplayfags losing stuff here that they once had. Some people are banned from posting by their corp/alliance/coalition leaders. Some people are posing as others, for various reasons. Some want to remain anonymous, for various reasons. Some are just random assholes. Virtually everyone does not want to submit any kind of API key.

I'd like to thank everyone involved for the thought and effort they've put in to steer the site away from the shitpile it was aiming towards. I don't think things were that awful, but there was definitely a downward trend, and I think a few considered changes have gone a long way to stopping a decline at its beginning.
Running a spaceship forum is even more thankless than running a spaceship organization I'm sure, so thanks from someone who enjoys the site.

Incidentally, although the new rules may not have been enforced as consistently as people might have liked, or moderators might not have been as active as people wanted, I did notice an uptick in quality and an improvement in the signal to noise ratio. While I generally believe in lighter moderation, to me it seems like the site improved. YMMV, of course.
"U mad" posts and other tired, dead horse beating bullshit, stupid reddit memes, "Would've repped you but can't!!"-posts, emptyquotes, and their ilk are still infractable, site-wide. As for Image Macros, officially we're supposed to infract posts that are solely image macros, so if people really want to post one, they can just put a few lines of text/a sentence below them, it's really not that hard. Sometimes, though, a picture is worth a thousand words, so if the image macro is a gif or something with relevant captions it's probably fine (see : most of bobbechk's posts)
I'm not a fan of overmoderation either, but in practice there is an awful lot of dumb shit being posted at the moment ; it's mainly by newly-regged people who don't understand the rules (we should probably look into that too), and by the odd persistent long-term shitposter, such as <name your favourite dumbass>, with the odd lapse by established posters. Once we deal with those, and clean up a few other minor issues, such as inconsistent rules in E-OU, we can hopefully go back to being seen rather than heard (and I can go back to 24/7 spergposting!). If we have to be seen to infract someone, we've already failed somewhat - it's better to prevent shitposting than to cure it through clear cut and consistent rules.
