Griefmas, the quintessential PL holiday. What do you get the alliance that has it all? Titans? Isk? Laptops? Tech money can buy all these things, but one thing money cannot buy is tears. Not surprisingly, after the fall of the NC the best source of such tears has been -A-. So The Legion went to work; we didn't welp a Super Capital fleet this year so damned if we didn't deserve something nice! "You'll jerk so hard you'll shoot yourself in the eye!" Shadoo warned, but The Legion would not - could not -be denied.
It started innocuously enough by halting Team -A-'s pubstomp of RA & pets. After welping several fleets, Team -A- decided to take a new approach to PL: denying fights. Legion Morale Officer Jogyn explained "a person who doubts himself is like a man who would enlist in the ranks of his enemies and bear arms against himself. He makes his failure certain by himself being the first person to be convinced of it. This is what -A- have just done, so hold on and enjoy the ride." After a thread entitled "WE WILL NOT SURRENDER" their eyes began to well and we were assured that Griefmas was destined for greatness.
After halting Team -A-'s progress, PL began to drop on -A- ~wulfpax~ with impunity. Whenever -A- formed, PL formed. Sometimes -A- managed to escape unharmed, but mostly every -A- roam started with losing a third of the gang to various forms of running and hiding. This persisted for a bit over a week, gang activity dwindled, and then the most peculiar thing happened - -A- began to cope with the loss by imagining some sort of PL vs -A- rivalry. "They camp us because we're too good" cries were echoed through alliance channels. This evolved into a moral high-ground argument over our perceived use of spies and Titans. Time to turn it up a notch. Dropping as they formed was no longer sufficient, we had to drop before they formed too. With Titans! For whatever reason, -A- were adamant on zerging dictors to keep our Titans - who were typically zero speed siting in a deployable bubble - tackled on the undock. In one instance they suicide'd an 80 man fleet on the LGK undock with 24 Sabres falling victim to their questionable tactic.

The tears were now flowing at full speed, but the pièce de résistance was yet to come. Ebenezer Shadoo, harbinger of Griefmas, came up with another diabolical plan and two days before Christmas a combined PL and NCdot fleet reinforced every tower in LGK, every POCO in Stain, and rape-cage'd a few super staging POSes within jump range for good measure. All the timers were set to come out on Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning. With sixty-some odd moons in LGK, killing 15 of them was irrelevant, but it sure was fun watching -A- squirm to rep things up. Every Carrier that tried to rep a tower ( around six or so) managed to find itself on the reeving end of a Doomsday, until finally:

With major fleets gone for two weeks and roams few and far between, -A- decided to change their luck around in C3-0YD and flex their muscles with an impressive 8 Titans fit to blap a Controlled Chaos subcap fleet under a jammer. Controlled Chaos inadvertently seduced the the -A- Titans with an Abaddon fleet and two Supers. Blinded by desperation, the Titans made a fatal mistake and continued to align outside the POS. Opps. This was all Head Supercapital Commander I'm Down needed. Under His guidance, PL and NCdot subcaps managed to keep the two Titans outside shields long enough to take the jammer down. As the jammer fell, the -A- Titans initiated self destruct. Luckily their cowardice would not go unpunished and the duo got the shit Doomsday'd out of them before the self destruct timers could finish.
Embracing the cockroach mantra after the Titan Debacle, -A- opted to put a ban on all SC movement and moved as far away from Stain as possible to Otsasai for a ~vacation~. Team -A- is now officially in the wind. The Initiative. made their move to lowsec permanent, trying their hand at the elite space mercenary game (imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, thanks guys :3), Nulli officially scrapped their Omist deployment after coming to the realization that Omist sucks the dick (they'll still try for Omist timers, just doing so while basing out of Delve), Gypsy Band are helping Mactep dog-pile Death, and SE are probably ratting idk what it is those folks do. Oh yea, and we aborted two Team -A- CSAAs with two active builds (one Rag, one SC).
While catching -A- Hurricanes 7 mids away is a tad impractical, the idea of running has proven to have permeated -A- culture. This notion presents itself best in the form of killmail bickering. Oh joy of joys! -A- truly is the gift that keeps on giving, and it has been a pleasure sharing it. On behalf of PL I would like to thank -A- for making it so easy. See you next year~

Think that's one of the core things in -A- strategy: nobody strong enough really wants their space because it's bad. So whatever the reasons of a given strong entity to take their space, they'll leave eventually because there are much better space holding alternatives. And that's when -A- crawls out of Stain to reclaim it.
I have to wonder why Stain Empire suffers them anymore.
One has to wonder if the PL posters have been sperging their own propaganda to the point where they themselves start to believe it. That would be sad.

This turtle up thing is nice, and no, we can't stop them, but we've got enough people to see the second a CSAA starts a build, and we'll just make sure that if they want to act like an empire war dec alliance, they get to live like one.

There are ways to live without own CSAAs. You, as PL and alliance with the most Supers of all in the game should know this. Keep on with your little blockade. Do not go to North, where all the fun is. Stay in South, hunting ghosts. I am sure, this will make you even more successful and average Joe in PL will give you a hug for this. It is the end game, man. Dear pilots of AAA, in a few hours many of you will be celebrating the end of the year, while some of you from the Far East had already done it. New Year is traditionally the biggest holiday of the year for our Russian and Ukrainian timezones and as usually we will be celebrating it for several days.
We are leaving behind one of the most difficult and eventful years, the 2011. It was the year of great victories and stupid losses. The year of tremendous alliance activity and the year when we accepted in our ranks new pilots willing to join our big AAA family.
Today we are welcoming the new 2012, after recent large battles and losses. Despite of the all efforts by our enemies to cover us with asphalt, it has not happened. This is because of you, the pilots who fought for every timer, for every piece of space and were not giving up. These were the days of the greatest activity, extraordinary number of CTAs that our alliance has ever seen.
We begin the new year with understanding that ahead of us - Berlin. And despite how far it seemed just a few months ago we will soon take it. We start a big campaign in a few days.
I wish you all the best both in Eve and in RL. Happy New Year.

If PL is here for ship kills then yeah, they probably would get more up north, but if they're here for harvesting tears, you guys have delivered beyond expectations IMO, and certainly far better than any entity in the northern conflicts would, goons being, well, goons and everybody else being Russian.
