I'll be moving to London before the end of the month.
Anyone has (or know someone who has) a cool apartment in the center of London
for rent? 300 GBP per week max.
Thanks,
K.

I doubt you'll get anything within reasonable walking distance of the centre (I'm taking "the centre" to be "Piccadilly Circus" for the purposes of this) for less than a king's ransom, but a little further out and you'll have plenty of options. The tube, despite it's bad reputation, is actually fairly reliable and easy to use as long as you don't need to travel during the hours of 08:30-09:00 and 17:00-17:30. If you do, good luck![]()
I know a guy who knows a guy who said he once knew a guy who knew someone that lived with Kug for a while. One morning he woke up and his wife, kids, dog and bank account were missing. When he asked Kug if he knew what happened he hacked his cell phone causing it to explode in his pocket which resulted in the loss of his leg.
Living with Kug - Not even once.
On a more serious note I hope you find a nice place to live, best of luck to you![]()
300 a week will get you a small rabbit hutch right in the centre. Move a couple of miles out and you'll get something pretty nice. What area in London are you thinking of? Do you have any friends in London already? Where do they live?
EDIT: A quick poke about shows that there are plenty of quite nice looking studio flats in eg: Kensington in your price range. Kensington is a pretty nice part of London (North Kensington, not South Ken ofc). Or you could get a 2-bed flat in Ealing for 1250/mo. Have a look at sites like these to give you a general idea of your expectations:

Best of luck, op.
Pretty sure Croydon should have a couple of free flats.
london is a shithole
its like nyc with high prices but zero amazingness
Too bad you missed the free tv's and trainers in London.![]()
I have a few friends in London. I lived near London a long time ago.
There are a lots of projects and job opportunities; I got 4 hot offers already.
It is a bit of a chicken and egg. Local landlords are asking for employment contract
or 6 months project in the UK and it is easier for me to sign a contract if I am
already in London.
I think I am going to take a short stay apartment for 1800-2000 GBP a month
so it gives me time to sign some contracts and find a descent apartment.
I am looking at Islington, Bow and other edgy parts of London with fast commute to
centre. One of the problem is that my girlfriend works as a model and she needs to
be quite close to central lines to go to castings and I don't drive a car since I left
Jakarta.
We should do a kugu meet up once I am settled there.
You and your bloody models
Fucking share already.

if you go to london, go with a smile and a song on your lips:
Here is London, giddy of London Is it home of the free, or what?
Can you squeeze me Into an empty page of your diary And psychologically save me? I've got faith in you
I sense the power in the fingers Within an hour, the power Could totally destroy me Or it could save my life
Oh, here is London "Home of the brash outrageous and free" You are repressed But you're remarkably dressed, is it real?
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to intex encapor again.
Id totally fly to london for a piss up.
Hell I'd fly anywhere in europe for a piss up.
You'd have to be fucking INSANE to try and drive in central London. That is, unless you enjoy throwing away money on congestion charges, petrol from all the stop-starting you'll be doing, and extortionate parking fees.
Get yourself an Oyster card and you can just swipe 'n go on practically all forms of public transport. It's far from perfect, but it gets you where you need to be, and you don't need to bother with the hassle of a car.
I am becoming crazy! So now I am looking for an apartment for 1 month to 1
month and a half for 350 to 600 GBP per week max... It is crazy expensive
but it will paid for by my client at the end.
Anyone can help me find some web site... most of the shitty web sites are
renting ugly shit or only do long term.

You might wanna filter out anything in Brixton, unless you enjoy catching syphilis from a chicken burger
Forget the car. Use the tube.
Short stay is a bother... the standard rental contract in the UK is 6 months + monthly renewal. There might be some specialist rental agencies who you can talk to but that's out of my range.
Agreed on the kugu meetup that would be awesome.
The suggestions gathered on this thread are good and yes London is bloody expensive but if the client is footing the bill, snuggle in close and reference the Tube lines. While living there, I could certainly afford to own a car and drive into my office in Central London but it was far too much of a hassle.
I had an Oyster card and took a taxi depending on client meeting locations.
In the end, London was loads of fun and I'm sure you will have a lot of fun.
As it happens, im also moving to london in a week. I haven't looked into it, but if you were to look in some of the more "dodgier" areas you would probably find something perfectly nice for half the price. even the shit parts of london are well connected with the tube system.
If it was Chicago I could probably help, good luck.
I know this sounds really stupid but you might be better off just staying in a travel lodge or something for the first couple of weeks - that way you can sort out your contract ect and then get a more permanent place to live.
I'd be up for meeting for a piss up sometime too.
I found a cool apartment in Orlando Tower... Google maps says it is a 40 minutes commute via DLR to St Paul... The agent says 20 minutes what gives?
I got another project offer for the 3rd of October, that's the second one and I have 3 job offers lined up.
What bothers me with permanent positions is that even if you earn 7000 GBP a month, after tax only 4500 GBP is left. http://listentotaxman.com
We could have a cool meeting in London, it seems like a large portion of k.com fellow members are based in England.
Do you think I need to hire some bodyguards?
Even in London, you can live pretty well on £4.5k a month.
Also UK tax rates are about as low as they get in Western Europe.
Jesus fuck I hope so, I live in Amsterdam and I get around with about 1.5k Euro wich is what 1.2k pounds? I have to admit I live in the ghetto parts of Amsterdam but still 2.5k should be enough to get around even tho London may be bit more expensive but it can not be that much can it?
I'm down for a meet up, Friday and/or Saturday would be best.

Pussies fight with guns, real men use brass knuckles.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
So brass knuckles will do just fine when having to deal with angry overweighted neckbearded nerds.

I want to do this but it'd be a bit ludicrous to cross the channel for a couple of drinks :'(

I live about 60 miles out of London and would also be down for a kugu-fest.
Twitter: @WidotVenetianT - RIP Vile Rat.
Is there anything worth doing over the weekend if you're not really the kind of guy who's into the big party scene? Also what would be the cheapest place to get a bed that's not too stupid far from London?

Do it October 11-14th and I'll probably be there.
