I'm surprised goons got this far with a cane fleet. The original purpose was to "soft-counter" their massive supercap inferiority, an inferiority which is far less pronounced or even non-existent in Delve. Goons already have the best subcap strategic fleet (as in the actual fleet, not strictly the doctrine) in the game right now, so obviously when the lazy man's BC fleet isn't cutting the mustard anymore, even though it shouldn't have been effective nearly as long as it was, they wheel out the proper strategic fleet. The decision to switch is of negligible strategic significance in my mind, it just means they're not easymoding a whole region; not exactly a terrible blow.

We weren't there for any fights, we just showed up like 2 hours late cause were good like that (can't lose ships if the fights already over).

That's with the prerequisite, however, that it accomplishes its objectives. If they lose it and are completely unable to accomplish anything, then continuing to fly it is just retarded.

Nah I don't think it's that... it's more that Goons have always had an objective, at least for the past year anyway, and so Delve is just the leadership just trying to keep the herd of cats on the rails. "Freeport Delve" started as just another one of these objectives, it's a softer target than the Russians (which CFC are definitely not ready to fight yet) and it's not as much of a pain in the ass to get to as StainwAAAgon is. But it has gotten a bit more serious now with Brick's hilariously inept diplomacy and the retarded "fake-troll" really just added fuel to the fire.
